The Granddaddy of all stop-smoking guru’s. Unfortunately Mr. Allen Carr has now passed away.

Independent studies place Allen Carr’s EasyWay to Stop Smoking with a success rate of just over 50%, which by the way is excellent. You can now see why we take exception with programs that claim 90%-plus success rates. In any case, the EasyWay method is quick and easy at 5 hours, effective at over 50% and guaranteed 100%. So what’s the downside? Well, there are two major drawbacks for most of us mere mortals. One, to be part of the 50% you must attend a live EasyWay seminar, which if you live in or around a major center (New York, LA, Toronto, Vancouver), is not a big deal. But if you don’t, then be prepared to travel to wherever the next one is, and that could be quite far away because their schedule is set up for their convenience, not yours. Second is the cost. This isn’t just the cost of the 5-hour seminar itself at $400, but as we said, the cost of travel as well. It can all add up very quickly. Of course, if it means you do stop smoking, you will recoup that money within a few months. But if you don’t – well, you don’t get any money back guarantee on all those incidental expenses. There is the option of buying the EasyWay book (about $15 on Amazon.com) or DVD, but only if you live in the UK, however no statistics have been given for these methods and sometimes that in itself says something.

We really didn’t know how to rate the Easy Way to Stop Smoking because it gets 5-stars for effectiveness, yet only 2-stars for affordability and accessibility. So we gave it positive weighted 3.5 stars.

Our final thoughts. If you can afford the program and arrange to attend, we recommend you do so at your earliest convenience. If not, go with End The Habit, which offers you pretty much the same process, plus ongoing support – and you can do it all from home.

Pros:

  • Very effective
  • Quick and Easy
  • No pills or patches required
  • Money back guarantee

Cons:

  • Very expensive
  • Not particularly convenient for most people
  • Travel costs in most cases
