I am a habitual hash smoker. I have been smoking pot for the last 22 years. I have a life, and I work hard, but I just cant seem to knock it off. Im not a scruffy junkie or anything. But everytime I think I’ll stop, even for a week, I just end up frantic. My wife ends up telling me to go and get some and chill out a bit!
Im not anti drugs, and feel its anybodys right to do whatever they want, but has anyone got any good advice, maybe backed up with experience?
I havent been clean and straight for over 20 years now and I feel there is more to me than this.
I have lots of good memories, all of them with an under current of being a bit stoned and a bit dull because of it.
I have used pretty much all other drugs at some time or another, recreationally, but I always smoke pot every day.
So? Any good ideas? I dont want to have to hate it, so no exteme hypno, and all of my freinds smoke and I dont want to have to ditch them, so no big enviroment change therapies either.
If you smoke hash with tobacco its the tobacco that really makes it addictive – if you really want to stop talk to your doctor and he can give you drugs that stop the craving for nicotine and that will help you stop the psychological dependence on pot – Alcoholics anonymous can put you on to ways of controlling addictions and if you really want to stop you will contact your doctor and alcoholics anonymous. If you do not contact your doctor or alcoholics anonymous then you do not really want to quit then stop worrying and just be a stoned geezer and a stoned old age pensioner its one way of getting through this crazy life not the best but one way.
I smoked hash from the age of 15 right up to 42 years old. Both my sons are hash smokers but I hate the stuff now, absolutely detest it and the culture it engenders. I have aso tried everything else, so hopefully I know what I am talking about.
Your big problem will be with your friends. As soon as you stop smoking hash your “druggie status” will have changed in their eyes and their main reason for socialising with you, i.e., to have a smoke- has gone. So don’t kid yourself, once you turn your back on this secretive culture they will quickly turn their back on YOU. You will find out who your real frineds are, and who the “hash smoker” friends are.
Actually you will be surprised how little you miss it, but you have to WANT to stop. You may find that listening to music isn’t so good either. As you get older it’s a natural thing to want to stop smoking hash- it makes people boring. You can always start again in old age, you always have that option.
Look on cannabis as a medication, not a recreational drug. After all you wouldn’t take aspirin if you didn’t have a headache now would you?
Just tell your friends casually you are thinking about stoping and watch their reactions.

I have been smoking grass for ten years and now that i need to stop but i find it hard because i’ll miss doing it. I need positive suggestions on how to quite smoking. I already know the side effects on smoking grass. I only need to know how did other people stop cold turkey. Please keep your negative narrow minded suggestions to yourselves! I need help not to be made to feel more worse than i already feel.
Habit is hard to break ( Very hard to quit cold turkey, it is what it is… however, if you want to be smart about it and figure out what keeps you there than you can quit. I know what keeps me smoking is the smoke and holding a cigarette in my hand and inhaling it after I ate… Obviously I miss it too much when I can’t smoke after food or when I’m excited or when I’m on the phone… you got the idea. Smoking is my safe haven for a lot of things. So, I go smart and I got on the internet to see what I can do to quit. I found it….. next sentence will sound like I’m selling the product, which I am, however, this will give you a start and you can do your own homework to see what keeps you smoking. I found electronic cigarettes that simulate smoke… which is what I am really missing when I want to smoke. So I bought it, tried it and I love it. Do you homework on what keeps you smoking and hit the internet in search for your addiction. My site will give you a start.

After just two years on the market, the quit smoking pill – smoking cessation -product Chantix has beaten the record in the most serious side effects, says the report, but Pfizer rejects proven causal connection.
Many people are using the quit smoking pill Chantix, when they get medical help to stop smoking.
Now a U.S. investigation, shows that there are indeed a great many side effects associated with using Chantix according to Swedish Läkemedel world. The article is based on a report of May 2008 from the American non-profit organization Institute for Safe Medication Practice.
Quit Smoking Medication
According to researchers, there is never actually registered so many side effects of a drug after such a short time on the market.
Of the 3,000 reports of serious side effects that researchers have reviewed, are reports of patients who lost consciousness while driving, while others experienced sudden muscle spasms.
Besides the side effects of accident reports, there are mountains of reports of vision loss, changes in heart rhythms, seizures, severe skin reactions and diabetes.

Each quarter researchers examines the side effect register to see what medicines have more side effects.

Pfizer comments in a message on its website surveys. It states:
“The authors acknowledge, however, that not in the light of these adverse reaction reports can see that there is a causal link between the use of Chantix and the reported adverse events – because most of those involved patients used other drugs while the use of Chantix. ”
No drugs without side effects
Pharmaceutical company also lays down that it is impossible to make drugs without side effects.
“But the goal is obviously to create products with so few and mild side effects as possible. This also applies to Pfizer’s smoking cessation agent Chantix. And most users of Chantix experienced no significant side effects. But anyone experiencing side effects. It may be in the form of migraine headaches, sleeping difficulties and nausea or fatigue and dizziness. There may also be uncommon in the form of, for example, in vision, neck pain, muscle tension, tremor and difficulty speaking. ”
In the United States alone is expected that 3.5 million people have used the quit smoking pill since its launch in 2006.
