I have never known anyone who has had those adverse reactions to chantix - nor did I. I have never known anyone who was successful in quitting with chantix either. They're good for a few weeks, even a couple of months, then they start again. I tried it but it made me too nauseous and I had to quit taking it since I had to go to work. I couldn't eat anything in the morning or the evening since it made me so sick.

I was like you and had the prescription. I didn't get it filled out for a few weeks because I was scared of the side effects that are written about. I decided to start taking champix and have found it successful with no major side effects. I am onto my 13th day. My decision was based on the fact that if you looked up the side effects from any drug, even something that the community looks at as 'harmless' like aspirin, we would not take it. I have been a person that has experienced lows through life as well and so was obviously concerned with what had been written, but I personally have found no such symptoms whilst taking it. My 'side effect' has been a headache on the first day (although I could have had that anyway) it has caused really bizarre dreams early in the morning which appears to be settling. Not scary dreams, just constant waking that has made me fatigued. The benefit has been that it has slowed my smoking down to now nil...and I dont feel like them. I have friends that have used it successfully to quit and are now long term quitters. It is like anything though, you would want to stay a non smoker after the 3 month program and have enjoyed the feeling that non smoking gives you (extra fitness, no tobacco smell, no constant worry that you will 'run out', the easier breathing, more money, the control that you have and that tobacco now does not have over you etc) to remain a non smoker. Champix is not bad for you long term...but smoking is, especially to an asthmatic. So, start the tablets if you feel ready to quit and if you feel after a few days that they are giving you side effects stop them. Good luck with being a easy breather.
