Chantix? Just Started Taking It, And I Need To Know Some More Info!!?

by Mike

This is my first week, I am on day three but my doc did not really explain it to me because my so was screaming and there were a million people to see him that day.
What are the side affects while you are taking chantix, do you have to ween yourself from it, and what are the side affects after you are off of it?
I am an insomniac to begin with so I just called my doc to see if he could prescribe me some ambien so I can sleep.
Other then that how did it make you feel? And did anyone find any ways to lessen the blows from the meds? Like wanting to smoke?
Im only 21 and Ive smoked since I was 13, and now i have a little baby boy so I know its my time to quit!!!
Thanks all!!!!

I’ve heard it can cause major depression including feelings to commit suicide. Someone I know was taking it but stopped because it was intensely affecting her mood.
On a side note, I understand doctors are busy and it’s difficult to discuss something with a doctor over screaming children, which is why I get a sitter if I need to go to the doctor, but I think it’s kind of irresponsible of that doctor to just hand you medication without any instruction or information. Especially if it’s a drug with known serious side effects.

I have been taking Chantix for 14 days and have not smoked in 9 days. I haven’t had any side effects at all.
When you got your prescription filled, there should have been an information sheet that was with it. It lists all the side effects that could happen.
I love not smoking. Chantix is working for me. You just really, really have to want to quit.
Best of luck!!
