I just resently started dating a man who smokes pot once in a while and he wants to quit. But he gets so moody and now he is asking me for pills. How do I help him?

I have found with the myriad people I know who smoke pot that in most cases they may get a little moody then settle for a beer, though it has been drastic in two cases and they sought medical attention….I am NOT a proponent of what I am about to say, however PAXIL is the very thing that when ingested, has enough of a bearing of a reaction to symptomatically take the edge off better than any other medication..now I am NOT a doctor, just a friend who witnessed this….
If you find it that difficult, then please seek medical advice, I wouldn’t be surprised if PAXIL is prescribed at least on a trial basis. The only drawback here is the lowering of the libido, which I suppose I did not have to mention, however there is Viagra for that. Look, i only know what I know, and do not take this medication, but did find in both cases that it worked wonders.
Ultimately seek medical advice on this one as we are all different and I am not an expert, as i stated, just a friend who witnessed two friends go through hell and the med took it away. Bi-Polar issues here are what were addresed and it was amazing. this is NOT for everyone I know…just my experience as a confidante. By the way, CNS Suppressents are NOT the avenue to counter with aka benzos…call the Doc. Ty.

Pot isn’t like smoking cigarettes, people can stop any time.
They will just miss being high.
After about 2 weeks of not having any the craving should easy and mood changes slow down. My problem while quitting after about 6 years smoking everyday was i relied on it to get to sleep, Stay away from anything to replace it as he’ll start getting the cravings for the pills or alcohol instead. Best of luck
geta hobby that you both can do or he can do alone in the basement or something. do it with him or without him. when he gets snappy try to ignore it as much as possible but if it gets to much let him know nicely you are going to read a book or do something else for the moment but that you appreciate what he’s trying to do. tell him it’s hard (but i’ve been thru it and it can be done). pillls just replace it. if he has something to do with his hands it takes his mind off of it. kind of like ciggarettes. to me that’s the wose thing. nothing to do with my hands.

He has to go through the worst of it so that he will see how bad it is. Don’t enable him in any way. And don’t get pills for him. That will just turn into a new drug habit. Can’t you see that he has an addictive personality? He’s not a good choice as a BF.
Uhh…pot is not addictive. Are you sure he’s not doing anything else?
I’ve smoked for 30+ years and recent stopped, I don’t have withdrawls… he must be doing something else…
Or he is a very weak person and is not worth the effort…
Pot is psychologically addictive. The WORSE thing you can do is start with pills. I know I’ve been there. Tell him he just has tough it out, after a month the cravings will go away. There is NO OTHER way to do it.
