Smoking during pregnancy significantly increases the risk of having a child with behavioural problems, which manifest as young as three years of age, reveals research published ahead of print in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.

  1. Hi, as powerful as the information is here, I do think it misses the point about why people smoke. I think most people realise that smoking is bad for them, but that’s not the problem, quitting is the problem! The main reasons people smoke are held at a subconscious level. That is why, despite knowing consciously how bad smoking is, people still struggle in their attempts to give it up. It is only when the message gets through to the subconscious that an individual will truly become smoke free. Unfortunately this type of information will only ever communicate to the conscious. For any one to give up they must first find their own reasons (this is where the info can help), but once they have done that they must re-educate their subconscious mind. There are various proven ways to do this, hypnosis, affirmations etc, however the one that I prefer with my clients, the one I find is easiest and most stress free is the use of subliminal messaging. This way the subconscious self image is changed gradually with the conscious mind of the smoker even knowing until the day when they suddenly realise they don’t actually want to smoke.
