I am 30 years old and have smoked since I was 14. I’ve made efforts to quit but in retrospect, they were half-assed at best. I’ve placed my last unopened pack on the mantle and would like it to stay there, sealed in cellophane for all eternity.
Does anybody have any tricks, suggestion, encouragement, or any manner of advice on how to avoid stress-related cravings and nicotine withdrawal. I prefer to go about this without patches, gum, and other such replacements.

Keep Quitting! Keep trying! I’m on day 104–I use Quit.net–great community–there are lame time wasting games and chat and forums. It’s a very supportive group.
I have used gum and the patch before. It’s not a bad method–it has worked for many. Point is, to try something that works for you. On that site I learned about this technique called “deep slow easy”–it’s a way of breathing that got me through some killer craves. It’s basically like toking air, holding it, letting it go, then toking more. There is much discussion about “tracheal breathing” and how you need to go deeper–blah, blah, blah–all I know is 104 days!
Anyway–congrats…and I couldn’t have them around (like yours on the mantle) when I was in those first days…no way….!
Oh yeah–They also discuss the weird things you go through in the first few weeks like gas (!?), bloating, spaciness…the whole bit.

Have a peppermint each time you crave a cigarette, the craving will go away.
And to have lots of water, and the nicotine will wash out
Make sure you get a lot of fresh air and exercise, it will help your brain recover

I don’t know myself. I started smoking when I was 15. This was just after my Grandmother passed away. I’m 17 now. I quit cold turkey for about 2 months. Then suprise I started again. I’m not sure how people do it. I would crunch ice when I want one or chew spearmint gum. All I can tell you is if you really want to do it. Then you will. God bless.
You might want to try anti-depressants with psychotherapy. Your withdrawal symptoms can be relieved greatly with them. Forget about the stigma that may come with this of medication, it really does help people who are trying to quit any type of addictive substance. Your dependence on smoking in part is associated to the relaxing effects it has on your body.
This lady I work with got this laser procedure done that lasered different points on her body and it makes you stop immediately. Her and her husband both did it and it worked. They are in their 40s and smoked for years. I believe it cost about $350 per person, I say it is worth it though. I wish my boyfriend was serious about quitting to find out how. Good for you for trying. She is going to give me the website, I will update when she does.

is like nasty when u star but…..
every day put the juice for another lemon in u juice
till u make 15 lemon juice when u get 15 drink it all the
juice for at less 3 weeks.
when you star maybe feel like something is no rigth
when you finish u feel like a new.
My husband and myself both had the laser done and it worked immediately, and that was having a cig. right before entering the building. They also suggest suck on a piece of cinnamon candy if u have a craving to smoke, the ingredients in the candy are also in tobacco and it calms the cravings. The laser is very successful for both of us. By the way I am 39 and hubby is 50 both had smoked since our teens.
