Who Wishes They Had Never Started Smoking ?

I started at a young age , about 14, and like most young people I most likely did it to “fit in”.
I’ve tried without help to quit a great many times , and tried a couple of times with help.It worked only on one occasion when I used the Zyban tablets , but 16 weeks later I started smoking again.A second attempt with Zyban was a total failure and had no affect on my habit what so ever.
I heard that there is a tablet of some form which came after zyban and that it is much much more effective.Has anyone tried this pill/medication ?
I wish I’d never bloody started the dirty habit !
Yes, I wish I had never started. I quit several years ago after smoking for over 20. It is a disgusting, filthy habit, makes everything about you and around you stink, and regardless of what some very misinformed individuals think, it WILL kill you.
Smoking is probably one of the toughest drugs to quit. Steven Tyler from Aerosmith once said it was harder to kick the cigarette habit than it was to quit heroin, and I believe it. The toughest part isn’t the nicotine – you can be done with that in a matter of weeks. The tough part is the mental part – most people, whether they really think this or not – seem to consider cigarettes a “friend” they can always turn to when the stress gets to be too much.
Many people who have quit – myself included – try and fail several times before making it. Don’t give up – keep getting “back on the horse”. Try checking out the American Lung Association’s web site and go into the “Smoking Cessation” part for tips, tricks and support from others who have gone through the same thing.
Good luck!!!

Wholeheartedly agree with you, the new name on the market is CHAMPIX
ME!!
but enjoy a smoke ever-so-often (I’m sure that’s the addiction talking)
I’m afraid my epitaph is going to read:
“I told you I would quit smoking”!
I started smoking when I went to college…but only did so for about 3 years…I stopped when I got pregnant (that’s the easiest way to kick the habit). I tried to start up again after I had my child, but guilt set in and I didn’t want to smell all ”smokey” around him. So then I limited myself to just being a social smoker. Now, I’ve started running and getting in shape and healthy so I quit altogether.
I guess what I’m saying is every time I quit, I had a good reason and strong motivation.
I have a friend who smoked for about 6 years, and his parents paid over $8,000 for him to quit (different medications), and he started again 6 months later.
Good luck to you, I hope you kick the habit.
I used to smoke, 3 weeks clean now! I started about 14 and am 25 now. I was really ill a few weeks ago with my Crohn’s and was in hosp for 2 weeks. The docs always said smoking doesn’t help my condition but you always say yeah, yeah. But I was so ill it scared me. I don’t ever wanna be that ill again and I haven’t touched one since. I don’t even want one either.
A few people I know are taking Champix (I think that’s what it’s called) and they are doing fine on it.
i smoking since i was 12, but honestly i can not see anything wrong about smoking, i don’t believe that it going to kill me. i smoke 20-30 cigarettes a day, and i don’t want to quit
IT DOES WORK AND YOU ALSO HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU WANT TO QUIT MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY CIG ARREST
